How to play Solitaire (Klondike)

The goal is to move all 52 cards onto the four foundations in the top-right — one per suit, built up in order from Ace to King. Below are seven tableau columns; the top-left stock deals new cards into the waste pile beside it.

The rules

  • Tableau columns build down in alternating colours (e.g. a red 6 goes on a black 7). You can move a whole ordered run of cards at once.
  • Foundations build up by suit, starting with the Ace.
  • Only a King (or a run led by a King) can move to an empty column.
  • Click the stock to turn over a new card; when it's empty, click the ↻ to recycle the waste pile.

Controls

  • Click a face-up card to pick it up (it highlights), then click the destination card or empty pile.
  • Click the selected card again to put it back down.
  • Double-click any playable top card to send it straight to its foundation.
